Vietnamese Clothing
The national costume is the Ao Dai, a long rope, which is originally from China. While in former times, it provided information about a person's social position, it is today a gown mainly for women. Even at high temperatures, women wear long gloves, as pale skin is a sign for not having to do physical work. The typical conic straw hats shield from sun and rain. In Vietnam, the color of grief is white, but at funerals grandchildren wear red and great-grandchildren yellow clothes.
