Vietnamese Clothing
The country's national costume is the Ao Dai, a long gown known to have originated from China. While in former times, it symbolizes a person's social position, it is today a gown mainly for all women. Even at high temperatures, women wear long gloves, as pale skin is a sign for not having to do physical work. The typical conic straw hats shields one from sun and rain. In Vietnam, the color of grief is white, but at funerals grandchildren wear red, while great-grandchildren wear yellow clothes.
