A Look Into Lac Village

A Look Into Lac Village

Located at Mai Chau Valley, Hoa Binh Province, Lac Valley is a 700-year old settlement known for its distinct traditions. It is composed of 5 Thai ethnic groups, among them Ha, Lo, Mac, and Loc. Like any rural area, the primary means of livelihood in the valley were rice planting and weaving, specifically brocade. But because of its natural beauty, Lac Village has developed into a famous tourist destination today.

In 1993, Lac Village officially began offering an overnight stay for tourists, earning the name “Bright Spot” for a convenient additional feature to its guests. Visitors can enjoy naturally stunning sights such as breathtaking sunsets, lush rice fields, and artistic stilt houses, among others. Local specialties include cooked rice, roasted meat and pot of bitter bamboo which guests can enjoy while listening to gongs especially performed by the locals for their visitors.

The village women are skilled at making hand-made products such as scarf, brocade dress, skirts and wallets which tourists can take home as souvenirs. The local market has also become an attraction because of its unique items which tourists find interesting.

Lac Village local residents are known to be gentle, friendly and especially accommodating to visitors, something which makes the place worth visiting aside from its naturally beautiful place.
