The biggest hand embroidery picture for 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long - Hanoi

Seven months after the ceremony of the final embroidery stitch, on July 23, XQ Vietnam announces the completion of the biggest hand embroidery picture in Vietnam themed “A desire to 1,000 years of Thang Long” as a dedication of artisans and employees of XQ Vietnam toward 1000th anniversary of Thang Long – Hanoi. The hand embroidery picture is displaying at XQ Art House – 27 Yersin, Da Lat City for one month before it heads Hanoi for the grant anniversary event in October. In early 2006, six artists of XQ Vietnam spent one and a half month in ${bigcity_Hanoi:"Hanoi"} to get an inspiration for creating the unique idea for the picture. And in October 2006, the embroidery project was initiated at Van Mieu Quoc Tu Giam – Hanoi (Temple of Literature).
After 1,000 days of hand-embroider under the leading and supervision of artisan Hoang Le Xuan - the golden hand of Vietnam’s embroidery and co-founder of XQ Historical Village, a group of 8 artisans of XQ Historical Village has devoted their great effort and talent to complete the picture. The hand embroidery picture has a dimension of 4 meters in length, 3 meters in width and 167.5 kilograms in weight. 12 kilograms of embroidery floss have been used to complete the project. This picture, again, breaks the record of XQ itself in Vietnam Guinness book 2005 which was established for the picture “The song of origin” featured spring in Hanoi. The most interesting fact is the multiplication of dimensions and weight of the picture gives the exact result of 2010, the year of 1000th’s birthday of Thang Long – Hanoi.
The picture gives a luxurious look with the background of pure pink lotus blend in ancient roofs of old houses in Hanoi ancient streets and elegant curves in architecture of pagodas. On the upright corner of the picture are pink lights features the glow of dawn with a lively flock of “Chim Lac” (a pattern on Dong Son Bronze Drum). And the peaceful streams of Red River expose the romantic beauty and prosperous of the Northern land. “A desire to 1,000 years of Thang Long” carries an important message, a sharing of values, attitudes and behaviors to a national heritage dated 1,000 years. The picture packs all the respects of Vietnamese ladies who dedicate their own emotion and spirit in each embroidery stitch to form thousand of pure lotus represent for the sincerity of millions of Vietnamese to the land of creation. Departing from Da Lat, a group of artisans and employees of XQ Vietnam with traditional clothes and formalities will head the hand embroidery picture to Hanoi on the occasion of the grant ceremony as a special gift of Da Lat to the national event. During the travel time, both the group and XQ Historical Village in Da Lat will collect one million signatures who share “A desire to 1,000 years of Thang Long”. All money raises during the trip will hand to charity organizations for helping unlucky children.
