Vietnam's Green Development

Vietnam's Green Development

Especially today, the environment is a crucial issue not only in particular countries but globally. Moreover, the issue on environment is critical not only in protecting our natural resources per se, but because nations worldwide have realized that it is essential, in fact, sustainable development is now impossible without environmental stability. And Vietnam is one of those countries which are well aware of this fact.

In its effort to bring its economy to a quick but stable growth, Vietnam has seen the significant correlation between socio-economic development and environmental protection.

In fact, Vietnam has realized that environmental protection is “an important criterion to measure its sustainable development.” As such, Vietnam has issued a “green economy policy” which requires less carbon emissions. This means that sectors utilizing a lot of energy and natural resources will eventually be replaced with energy-effective and environmentally-friendly technology. The green economy policy also includes looking for cleaner and more renewable energy sources to achieve its goal of a sustainable development.

The Vietnamese government has approved the Strategic Orientation for Sustainable Development in Vietnam, known as the Vietnam Agenda 21, identifying “big initiatives that lay a firm, legal foundation” for all ministries, agencies, localities, organizations and individuals alike, to help each other take and maintain proper measures in ensuring the country’s sustainable development in the 21st century. As mentioned earlier, the environment is a global concern.

Thus, each country must do its part as well as cooperate with the whole world in protecting our precious Mother Earth. The environment is in critical condition right now and it takes a radical move for each nation to save and restore what’s left of our rapidly dilapidating ecosystem. Countries in the East Asian region are working hand in hand to build a “greener world.” Moreover, they are also helping developing countries in achieving this mission of a sustainable development through environmental protection.

This mission is put into reality by the organization of the 19th World Economic Forum on East Asia. Held in {bigcity_Ho_Chi_Minh_City:”Ho Chi Minh City”}, this forum plays the perfect agendum for discussing and conceptualizing new, radical and effective ideas for a more environmentally-friendly economy not only in Asia, but the whole world. Moreover, this event enables countries to lay down strict rules and effective actions in solving the pressing environmental problems and climate change today.
