Vietnamese Team Wins Third Place in Asia-Pacific Robot Contest

In ${bigcity_Hanoi:"Hanoi"}, the LH B7 team from Lac Hong University landed third place at the 2011 Asian Broadcasting Union Robot Contest held in Thailand. Moreover, the team also won the Toyota Award in the same competition.
 
The Kampaengphet Technical College team from Northern Thailand came in second while the team from Dhurakijipundit University of Bangkok emerged the champion.
 
The Vietnamese team won against the teams from Fiji, Turkey and Laos in the semi-finals round before losing it out to Northern Thailand’s Kampaengphet Technical College. The Lac Hong University team shares the title with Batam Polytechnic from Indonesia.
 
In retrospect, the LH LED team from Lac Hong University already won previous awards, earning the silver medal in the Asian Broadcasting Union Robot Contest held in Egypt last year.
 
The theme of the robot contest, which is a yearly event, is Loy Krathong, which means Lighting Happiness with Friendship. This year, 19 teams participated in the competition wherein the participants are given the task of making their robots launch a Thai krathong boat – complete with a lamp stand, flower, and three candles, all within three minutes.
