Zip Line Your Way to Dark Cave

Zip Line Your Way to Dark Cave

If you’re an adventure seeker, this may just be on your top list this year. The Phong Nha-Ke Bang Cave Center in Central Vietnam just opened a 400-meter zip line that goes straight to the Toi Cave. Toi Cave or Dark Cave as it is most known for, is among the oldest in the cave systems of Vietnam. It was discovered by members of the British Cave Research Association in 1990 and 1992. It is 5.3 kilometers long, 80 meters high and is located about 20 kilometers from Phong Nha Cave.

It was named as such because of its lack or absence of sunlight and mysterious atmosphere altogether. Trial runs have been conducted since August to test the reliability and profitability of the said venture. The whole process was participated in by about 60-80 people, mostly foreign tourists. The zip line route will pass over the Chay River and travel to the entrance of the famous cave which visitors can take a boat to get into.

Phong Nha-Ke Bang Tourism Center, located at Quang Binh Province, is the administrator of Toi Cave. To ensure the guests’ convenience and safety, three local climbers have been employed to assist them. Zip liners will be secured in trusty, high-quality belts and harnesses. The zip line ride alone is already an adventure in itself. Along the way, tourists will also be treated to a magnificent view of the Chay River as well as a vast forest situated between equally majestic limestone mountains. Upon reaching Dark Cave itself, visitors will be mesmerized by shimmering stalactites and stalagmites. Cold ponds and muddy grooves can be found inside which one can take a dip into, in the dark though. On the way back, guests can even take the ride to another level by asking to be released into the river, making the whole experience a truly unforgettable one.
