2013 Oktoberfest in HCMC and Ha Noi Expects Larger Participation

Organized in the two cities of Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, this year’s German Oktoberfest will not only be the largest German cultural event in Vietnam, but also South East Asia’s largest celebration of German culture. More than 14,000 guests expected to participate in Ho Chi Minh City and 3,000 visitors in Hanoi.  According to Reuters News Agency, the Oktoberfest Vietnam, now on its 21st celebration, is ranked among the top 10 Oktoberfest events outside of Munich.

In the southern metro, it will be held at the Windsor Plaza Hotel this coming October 11-12 and October 15-19 under the patronage of the German embassy in Ha Noi and consulate in HCM City. Hanoi’s Cung Xuan event center will host the event on October 24-25 organized by the German Business Association (GBA), Moevenpick Hotel Hanoi and KBT. The Hanoi event is made possible by generous sponsors including Schenker Vietnam, Cung Xuan Event Center, Andritz Hydro, Euro Auto - BMW Importer, Panalpina World Transport, Rieckermann, Vietnam Airlines, Haefele Vina JSC, and Messer Vietnam.

   

The week-long event will feature all the good stuff everyone is looking forward to every Oktoberfest: lots of good food, good drinks and good time. This will be accompanied by good Bavarian music from the German band Gaudiblosn from München.

 

Founded by the German Business Association in the early 1990s, the event has grown year after year and over time, has become a large attraction that it has even received attention on Wikipedia naming Vietnam as home to the largest and longest Oktoberfest celebration in South-East Asia. According to the chairman of GBA, Elmar Dutt, the Oktoberfest events in Vietnam is a cultural bridge bringing people together, both locals and foreigners.

“This year's Oktoberfest Hanoi is promising to be even bigger and more exciting and we expect on both event days a sold out event with more than 3000 guests Vietnam to celebrate what Vietnamese and German’s love most: a mug of cold, fresh brewed beer”, said Dutt.
