Cua Dai Beach: A Charm in Hoi An

Most of what is written about Hoi An are of its spectacular old quarter and its other historical must-sees. Though it isn’t really perceived by many as a beach getaway, make sure that when you travel to this part of the country, you shouldn’t miss out on the opportunity to enjoy the many other experiences this city has to offer beyond its cultural landmarks and sparkling colorful lanterns.
Hoi An is endowed with the stunning 3 kilometer Cua Dai Beach which has lovely white sand, blue sea, clear, sunshine, cool water and sloping sea floor. In fact, it is considered as one of the most beautiful beaches in Central Vietnam.
Located 4 km to the east of Hoi An old town, travelers can easily come to the beach to unwind after seeing the relics in the old town. There is much to do in Cua Dai Beach. As the beach is well known for its seafood, you can plan to have your dinner here while enjoying the stunning beach view and soothing breeze coming from the waters. Who says you can’t have the best of both worlds? Because its waters are plentiful with sea life, fishing has also become a popular form of entertainment here. Tourists can hire small boats to go out on the sea and hunt.
Cua Dai Beach is not secluded. From very early in the morning the fishing boats are already set out while swimmers from the town start pouring in for an early swim. But being an incredibly long beach, there is loads of room to wander off for a bit of personal space, and everyone is guaranteed a spot. You will also notice a stretch of willow trees as you wander off.
As with almost all Vietnamese beaches, commercialism is very much alive here. Food vendors have loads of goodies to sell everywhere. It is also easy to rent deckchairs, umbrellas, rubber tubes, or plastic or rattan mats. As far as accommodations, travelers will be spoilt for choices of restaurants, hotels and newly-built modern resorts. Lodgings built in Vietnamese traditional style are available as well.
Most travel itinerary does not afford time for a dedicated beach destination stopover somewhere else. Coming to Hoi An allows you to hit two birds with one stone. The city’s historical and cultural charms are definite musts in your itinerary. But finishing off your day with pure Vietnamese beach experience in Cua Dai would be a perfect way to complete your trip.
