Meo Vac: Exotic Beauty

Meo Vac: Exotic Beauty

Meo Vac Town is located at the Northern Province of Ha Giang. It is a five-kilometer walk down a slope to a valley surrounded by rocky mountains.

Like most provinces blessed with natural abundance, Meo Vac is rich in corn fields, gardens, vegetables – despite being a mountainous area, and samu trees (Cunninghamia lanceolata), which are tall trees common in the Northern mountains, among others. The H'Mong ethnic group reside in the town in gray-black wooden houses while the Kinh people stay temporarily for business purposes. There are government offices, a stadium, and a big, spacious local market which specializes in cattle trading. It only opens on Sundays so people crowd to the place during this time to buy their needs and leisurely stroll around the market as well.

But while Meo Vac may seem like a typical provincial area, there are actually nice hotels with even reasonable rates around. A standard hotel room may cost about VND80,000 per night, a fair rate even local Vietnamese residents can afford. Corn wine and Meo Chicken are the local delicacies Meo Vac is proud to offer to their visitors.

Sunset in Meo Vac is known to come faster than usual, but a tempting invitation to discover the town even more. Aside from its natural beauty, surprisingly comfortable and cheap hotels, and good food, Meo Vac offers other more exciting sights and stories any adventurer will not let pass.
