Mobile Rice Dryer Invented

Cao Xuan Qua, a resident of Long Xuyen City’s Binh Duc Ward and a Delta farmer in the Mekong Province of An Giang, has invented a mobile rice dryer that preserves rice quality by drying paddy directly at the rice fields shortly after harvest.

The machine is 4.5 meters wide and 15 meters long. It has the capacity to dry up to 15 tonnes of paddy for every three-hour batch.

This is not the first time that Qua invented a farming machine. In fact, he has already made an income and business out of it. Six years ago, he made an amazing 1,300 fixed dryers. 30 of these were ordered from as far as Cambodia. He built 20 other more mobile dryers that he sold for VND80 million each. That is equivalent to U.S.$3,800 for each machine that he sold. Moreover, Qua is planning to build an even bigger floating dryer in the future which has the power to dry up to 50 tonnes of paddy per batch.

The mobile rice dryer invented by Qua is a big help to farmers as it decreases post-harvest losses and production costs.
