More Tourists Attracted to Charm of Phu Ninh Lake

Known for its peaceful and tranquil atmosphere, Phu Ninh Lake is often referred to as a miniature of ${attraction_Ha_Long_Bay:"Ha Long Bay"}. Located in the South Central coastal province of Quang Nam, the lake has 30 beautiful islands and islets. Remarkably, the lake didn't exist before 1986, of which is why several travel enthusiasts describe the lake as a miracle of man and nature. Picturesque and biodiverse, Phu Ninh Lake is an irrigation work, one of the largest in the country, with a water area of 3,443 hectares surrounded by 16,000 hectares of protected forest, mostly pine. Took ten years to complete, the body of water was named after the village that was submerged when the valley was flooded.
As it can hold 344 million cubic meters of water, the lake irrigates around 23,000 hectares of paddy fields in the districts of Phu Ninh, Nui Thanh, Thang Binh, Que Son, Duy Xuyen and Tam Ky city. The area has varied fauna and vegetation, of which 14 species are included in the red book of species which need protection. It has an artificially constructed water channel which is fed by hot spring water from a plastic pipe. The hot spring water has therapeutic benefits ideal for treating muscle and joint problems and skin ailments. Many people come here just for the water's curing values.
The lake is increasingly attracting a large number of visitors. Tourists talk of the vast lake, blue skies, mountains, islands and pure air that undeniably create a lasting impression. Even when the sun is shining, the weather is usually cool. The lake and islets are best explored by a boat ride. Just a few of the many islands and islets have names. Among the largest is Monkey Island, because of the hundreds of monkeys that have made it their home, and are constantly trained by locals to be more visitor-friendly. Visitors can also get the chance to explore the nearby Su island, named after the many cao su (rubber) trees that grow on its gently sloping sides.
Phu Ninh is also home to numerous freshwater fish species, among which the best known is the goby, a small creature usually found in the sea. It is characterized by a disc-shaped sucker formed from its pelvic fins. Visitors can rent a fishing rod for just VND10,000 and go out on a boat to catch dinner, if they're lucky.
Because of the growing number of visitors coming by, plans are laid out on improving the area with various exciting services: sightseeing, fishing, water-skiing, hot-water bathing, medical treatment, and accommodation for furlough after strenuous work or treatment. Pham Thi My Trinh, the manager of Phu Ninh Lake tourism zone, says the authority plans to build 10 villas here for tourists. The people in the region are friendly and live close to nature, which can better help improve promote tourism. Phu Ninh is a place to visit for those wishing to get away from noisy, crowded and polluted cities.
