Quang Nam Establishes New Tourism Strategy

Based on a survey conducted by the local Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and in collaboration with UNESCO and SNV of the Netherlands, Quang Nam Province has lined up a new marketing plan to boost its tourism sector. In its new tourism marketing strategy, the province of Quang Nam aims to increase tourists’ staying duration; the number of tourists revisiting the locality; and tourist arrivals in low season.

In order to realize this vision, the government will launch a public relations campaign and establish the World Heritage Road.

According to a tourism expert from UNESCO, one vital key in creating a workable and successful tourism marketing plan for Quang Nam is being able to identify specific marketing objectives in the province.

2012 is seen as a “gloomy” economic situation not only in Vietnam, but all over the world. But despite the negative outlook, Quang Nam is still hopeful at targeting a 9 percent increase of visitors entering the area. This is equivalent to 2.76 million tourists visiting the province.

Quang Nam’s “competitive advantages” and ‘clear market segments” are seen as the driving factors to reach this tourism target.
