Though many formally refer to it as Tinh Yeu Waterfall, locals and visitors would prefer to regard it with its more famous name, Love Waterfalls. Its name translates romance which exudes from its undeniable charm.

But such romance also roots from a love story back in the olden days about a Sun Fairy and a woodcutter, an affair forbidden by the gods.Legend has it that during ancient times, fairies from heaven used to come down to bathe in the waterfalls. One day, the seventh fairy heard O Qui Ho, the first son of Ai Lao Mountain Genie who was playing his flute near the falls. Captivated by the beautiful music, the fairy spent every night listening to the sweet melodies. The Gods later forbid her to come down to earth. Missing O Qui Ho and his music, she transformed herself into a yellow bird that lives on O Qui Ho Mountain. Locals named the waterfalls ‘Love’ to continue to relive the legendary love story.Getting to Love Waterfalls will require visitors to pass by a red dirt road running through the lush bamboo forest.

The path itself would unfold a picturesque landscape, so beautiful to bring awe to visitors. The charm just continues as one nears Love Waterfalls. From a distance, the sparkling water that races down forcefully yet soothingly is very inviting. Below it, the Gold Stream runs along with green grass plots and bamboo clusters, adding to its romance. Currently, the Netherlands Development Organization (SNV) has suggested listing Love Waterfall in the “West-North Route” tour as it has a promising potential to become one of the most attractive destinations in the mountainous district of North Vietnam.
