Tourism Soars High in Da Nang

Despite the lack of attractions to offer tourists, ${bigcity_Da_Nang:"Da Nang"} remained promising and continued to receive thousands of visitors annually some many years back. Its remarkable location, surrounded by beautiful beaches, makes it most suitable to put up wonderful resorts, luring tourists to come and enjoy its warm sands, clear waters and great accommodations. But what used to be a budding city from close to a decade ago had now turned into a full-grown tourist destination.
Not very long ago, drab scene awaits tourists as their plane touches down in Danang. Hot as the city could get, the absence of parks and developed green spaces leaves visitors with little choice when searching for great places to offer them shade, relaxation and entertainment at the same time. Apart from that, the city also lack cultural and historical sites, but people who come by don’t seem to mind. Perhaps, at that time, they look at the city more as a starting point of their Central VN tours, or a jump-off destination for their beach-hopping adventures. Tourists arriving in Danang mostly head off to the beaches nearby, mostly the ones between Danang and ${bigcity_Hoi_An:"Hoi An"} or ${bigcity_Hue:"Hue"}.
Inspired by the growing tourism along with the seen potential of the city becoming tenfold more attractive than it is, different investors took the opportunity to bring in more shopping, dining and entertainment options both for locals and tourists and transform the city’s image as a tourist attraction itself instead of a stopover destination to other tourist spots. Now, a modern golf course designed by the known Scottish golfer Colin Montgomerie is up and running along the border of Danang and Quang Nam. Montgomerie is among the most celebrated European players in history and that will lure golf-lovers within the region and beyond.
By 2008 alone, 9 holes had been opened for play while the rest are underway along with the construction of a club house and a string of villas. A villa, to bear the name of the Ryder Cup legend, could cost an interested buyer some $850,000. But despite being a little pricey, reservations kept coming. Korean and Japanese expats frequent the place, and with the great things seen to be going on for the golf entertainment, the construction of a 36-hole facility designed by Greg Norman followed near the Marble Mountains followed. Resorts nearby, like the Furama and The Nam Ha, included golf packages as among their regular services. For the last decade, the Furama Resort has been the sole player in the local luxury resort market. But competition kept pouring in and Olalani, a grand complex of ‘condotels’, villas and hotels, now sits not very distant to Furama. A visit to Olalani is an opportunity to experience Hawaii right in the soil of Vietnam. The inspiration could be convenient enough for the owners who are Vietnamese residing in Hawaii, but for the many guests who get to experience what it has to offer, it is definitely remarkable.
Just beside it is the Crowne Plaza, a huge hotel with around 600 rooms, a casino hall with eight gaming tables and 100 slot machines. Located 15 minutes south of Danang International Airport and the city centre, it is capturing a huge share of the city’s growing tourist market.
Resort-based restaurants, along with the increasing number of new restaurants put up in the area, will offer visitors more options with the very diverse menu they cater including International cuisine, Asian food to the most authentic Vietnamese cooking. The popular restaurateur and celebrity chef Bobby Chin became inspired to open a restaurant in the Indochina Riverside Towers, a complex of shopping mall, offices and residences by the Han River, where luxury fashion outlets are also vast. Seventeen Saloon Bar has opened up a Danang branch on Bach Dang Dong street to give tourists more options for evening entertainment. Currently, there are now two Highlands Coffee to serve up the locals and tourists, one in Indochina Riverside Towers and the other in Vinh Trung Plaza. The business complex Vinh Trung Plaza, cradling several offices, apartments, the Big C shopping mall and the MegaStar Cineplex is always packed with people. Now, Danang is entirely different compared to how it looks from a decade ago, but more developments are still underway. So much for a very slow take off for the city, coz tourism in Danang has indeed soared high, and is to sail even further in the years ahead.
