For adventurous, happy tourists who want to discover more of ${bigcity_Hanoi:"Hanoi"} this is the perfect avenue to know more and truly appreciate their “home away from home.” Hosted by Urban Discover, a non-profit venture that aims to preserve heritage and improve the quality of local urban life, Urban Discovery Ha Noi Bar Challenge 2011 is a fun, friendly competition among tourists wherein eight teams composed of four members will compete to find hidden checkpoints, solve clues and engage in mental and physical challenges. The methods of travel allowed are on foot and local public transportation.

The four-hour competition kicks off with a Ha Noi-themed quiz to determine the smartest team. The winning team will be the first to leave and continue to the challenge. The second phase of the competition consists of a race wherein contestants will criss-cross Ngoc-ha Village, known for its traditional flower-growing jobs. From there, they will follow a route to pre-determined checkpoints, solving clues and competing in games before they can continue again in the race.

The checkpoint challenges include a blindfold tasting of the different kinds of beer in Ha Noi, looking for “signs of love” in the Botanical Garden, finding the wreckage of a B52 American war plane, and purchasing a delectable local “blood sausage.” Other enjoyable parts of the competition are a table tennis contest with the local champion, a wedding card and team picture with the lucky couple, and a grueling 15-storey climb to a building while counting the number of steps along the way.

The Urban Discovery Ha Noi Bar Challenge 2011 happens tomorrow at 1:30pm at the NOC Bar, 671 Hoang Hoa Tham Street. The winning team will be announced and awarded at Puku Café, 16 Tong Duy Tan Street at 6pm on the same day.

Contestants in this competition will definitely discover more of Hanoi than they think they already know as they scour the city for the game clues. Knowledge, communication and navigation skills, creativity, stamina and team spirit will be developed and/ or enhanced during the competition. But most of all, contestants will have so much fun that will make their stay truly memorable.
